About The Workshop…
Eight weeks of thread indulgence – learn lovely hand embroidery stitches and combination stitches to inspire, step by step instructions on how to use you're new stitches to make your own embroidered garden.
Course Dates & Times 6pm – 8.30pm Tuesday 18th & 25th Sept. 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th Oct. 6th Nov, 2018.
Skill Level Beginners
Your Will Learn
Over the eight weeks you will create a beautiful hand embroidered garden with stitch, building a collection of stitches each week to add to your design.
You will cover; preparing your embroidery hoop, fabric preparation and how to embellish your fabric pre embroidery.
You will learn several decorative embroidery stitches each week, starting with running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, seed stitch. Each week you will have to opportunity to make a sample page of stitches and methods to keep for future reference.
There will be lovely stitch homework to do over the eight weeks.
On your first week we will explore suitable background colour techniques for your creative embroidery, how to bind your wooden hoop to prevent fabric slip. Needle appropriate to your thread and how to finish raw wedges with overcast stitch
Linda will be showing you lots of inspirational embroidery projects to set your embroidery juices off then over the eight weeks you will learn a variety of embroidery stitches with a progressive level of skill, all of these stitches will be used to make you embroidered garden a delightful embroidered sample which you will be proud to show off to your family and friends.
You Will Need
- 1/2 yard of medium weight calico
- 10 inch wooden embroidery hoop, 6 inch hoop for samples
- 1 inch packet of bias binding, white or cream
- 1 pack of embroidery/crewel needles mixed sizes
- Anchor or DMC cotton embroidery floss in colours of your choice. (3 greens and 5- 7 colours.)We have a good selection in the shop
- Sharp scissors, fabric scissors
- Note Book, pens pencils
- You may want to wear a thimble

Our Creative Thread Studio sits above our new shop, at 68b Church Street. We opened on the 21st July 2018,
The studio space offers excellent light to work and air conditioning, comfy chairs and two work surfaces for you. We have ample plug sockets and ironing surfaces, facilities to provide refreshments, a microwave.
However the studio is on the first floor. We can offer to carry your machines and bags up stairs for you.
