The Toyota Corolla is a compact sedan that has been around for decades. Like any car, it requires regular maintenance (including oil changes every 3,000 miles or so and fuel filter changes every thirty,000 miles or so) to go along running stiff and prevent any internal impairment. Fuel filters work very much like whatever other filters and keep dirt and debris out of your car'southward fuel, allowing for clean combustion. Luckily, fuel filters are relatively piece of cake to supplant in almost Corolla models made in or before 2001.
Step 1
Open up the hood and let the car sit down idle and un-powered for at least a one-half hour it yous had just been driving it. This will allow the car to cool down.
Step 2
Disconnect the negative battery cable. This volition forbid the airbags from deploying as you're swapping the filter.
Stride 3
Locate the old fuel filter. Information technology is underneath the driver's side of the engine chassis, and information technology is encased in a minor canister (which is shaped somewhat like a soup can) attached to the fuel line.
Step 4
Remove the protective shield from effectually the filter using the line wrench and set it aside. If the cleaner hose or charcoal canister are in the way, so just remove them, too, by unscrewing the bolts on the brackets holding them in.
Stride 5
Loosen the flare nut, which is attached to the filter and the fuel line, to allow the pressure level inside to subside.
Step 6
Remove the banjo fitting and metal gaskets, and so disconnect the fuel line from the old fuel filter and remove information technology from the mounting subclass.
Step 7
Slip the new fuel filter into the quondam fuel filter'south place in the mounting bracket and screw a new gasket onto each finish, attaching them with the marriage bolt.
Step 8
Tighten the flare nut back onto the fuel filter, put everything you removed back on (like the cleaner hose, charcoal canister, etc.) and attach the negative bombardment cablevision to the bombardment.
Beginning the machine and check for leaks.
